Upper Lakes – CA: Where we did nothing

We went on a drive from the bay area last month to Lake county. Being quite the ‘aggressive’ travelers, we never planned to go to a place to do ‘nothing’. This was the first of its kind and it was surprisingly good!

One of my buddies told me about this lodge which adjoins a lake and is a beautiful place to visit. We set out on a weekend trip to explore this place and do nothing. We were warned that there are no restaurants and food places close by and we stopped on the way to pick up some thai food at Charlem Thai Bistro.

We got one of those rooms with a whirlpool jacuzzi and a view to the lake. Our bath recipe included epsom salts, baking soda and eucalyptus oil. 15 mins in the jacuzzi took us into a ‘super relaxed’ state. Had the thai food for dinner and slept for 13 straight hours!!!

Next day, we headed to the yummy buffet at the lodge. We sat next to the lake and leisurely finished our breakfast. Sat in the sun on the beach chairs with the mildly cold air bathing us. Talked about everything and nothing for a couple of hours.

We checked out at noon and stopped at this amazing vegan buffet place called Gaia’s garden in Santa Rosa on the way back to the bay area.

As we drove down on US 101S, we saw a lot of vineyards and wineries which sported the colors of Fall.

Well, I would be lying if I said we did nothing. We did something that we usually missed. We relaxed! And we promised ourselves that we will be doing more of these ‘trips about nothing’!
